Behavioral health care is a significant facet of healthcare. It has often been neglected in the past, but thankfully has gained more importance in recent years, as people have begun paying more attention to their mental wellbeing. The major goal of behavioral healthcare is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental health illnesses.
The Behavioral Health RCM process is a series of steps that patients must go through in order to receive treatment from a healthcare professional. The behavioral health revenue cycle management process is designed to help providers and payers collaborate to ensure patients receive high-quality behavioral health care. Depending on the type of treatment delivery, one type of mental health care to another, and depending on how severe their symptoms are, the steps may vary slightly; however, there are some common steps that all patients must undergo during this time:
The first step in the Behavioral Health RCM process is the pre-admission stage. Here, healthcare professionals will ask questions about your behavioral health history and check whether you have any signs or symptoms of an underlying condition.
The second phase is Chronic Care Management (CCM). During this period, your primary care doctor will monitor your symptoms and make recommendations for treatment based on their findings. If necessary, they may refer you to an appropriate specialist for further assessment or treatment. In some cases, it may be required for patients who are experiencing multiple episodes of depression or anxiety over many years before seeking help from healthcare providers; however, even these patients can benefit from CCM because it provides them with ongoing access to services without having to return every time they feel ill again.
During this initial section, patients will be assessed by a physician to determine their level of care and treatment options based on their physical and mental health information. The medical evaluation will also include a full physical examination and blood test to rule out any other possible causes for your condition.
A typical visit with a primary care physician can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or more depending on how busy they are, but it’s essential that you have enough time before the appointment so that you can prepare yourself mentally for what’s going to happen during your visit.
The next step in the Behavioral Health Revenue Cycle Management process is called “Referral.” Once you’ve been evaluated by a primary care physician, the next step is for them to refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist for an evaluation. This can be done through an intake process that takes place before treatment begins.
The psychologist or psychiatrist will then determine whether or not you need psychotherapy services and then make recommendations based on their findings.
The Behavioral Health RCM process is a complex one and requires the assistance of professionals from many different fields. In addition, it involves time and energy, and proactive involvement from you, and your family. However, when all of these professionals work together to provide the best possible care for your condition, you’ll be able to live a full and healthy life.
